Peace Day Philly began in early 2011 as a grassroots initiative to promote participation across the Philadelphia region in the U.N. International Day of Peace - a global day observed on September 21 - and is now a non-profit organization. Peace Day Philly encourages organizations, individuals, civic leaders and communities to use the platform of Peace Day to engage in meaningful and diverse peace-related activities and to engage in practical acts of peace building.
The International Day of Peace is now observed annually by well hundreds of million people in over 150 countries and many major cities worldwide. For more about the IDP, go to: www.internationaldayofpeace.org and join the International Day of Peace Facebook Page.
