Saturday, October 5, 2024 is World Hoop Day!
SpinCo is inviting hoopers and all flow artists of all ages to come and meet each other on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum!
Bring your day props, all props invited (not just hoops!), friends, and family to this free event! Our team of volunteers will be there to make everyone feel welcome.
Come meet other hoopers and flow artists in your community!
What to Bring
- Wear clothes you are comfortable in spinning in! Gym clothes, street clothes, and costume clothes are all fine! If you have long hair, we suggest hair ties.
- You are welcome to bring tripods and camera equipment for photo/video. We sometimes will take a group photo!
- Please ask for consent if you are posting photos or videos of others, and whenever possible, tag us @spincoalition!
- Bring a water bottle, so we save on plastic waste!
How to Get Here
We will be hosting this spin jam on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, at the intersection of Kelly Drive and Fountain Green Drive. It's a short distance from Center City Philadelphia. You can get here by car, bus, bike, or foot. Parking is available in the art museum garage or along the street.
Driving / Parking
The museum sits at the western end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, close to I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) and I-676 (Vine Street Expressway), minutes from Center City Philadelphia.
- There are metered spaces on the Parkway between Eakins Oval and Logan Square, as well as two-hour parking just off Waterworks Drive at the Italian Fountain.
- The parking garage is near the main building. From Kelly Drive, turn onto Anne d’Harnoncourt Drive or Waterworks Drive and follow the signs. From Spring Garden Street, follow Anne d’Harnoncourt Drive around the curve; the garage is on your left. You can find accessible parking on every level of the garage, adjacent to the elevators. The cost to park in the garage is $39 if you are not visiting the museum.
Biking
The museum is right next to the Schuylkill River Trail, a car-free zone for cyclists, joggers, and strollers. There are also two Indego Bike Share stations nearby: one at the bottom of the Rocky steps and another in front of the Perelman Building at 2525 Pennsylvania Avenue. There are secure racks in the parking garage or outside the North Entrance of the museum.
Public Transportation
Bus routes 7, 32, 38, 43, 48 & 49 all serve the museum area. If you’re coming from the Philadelphia metro area, catch a SEPTA subway or regional rail train to nearby 30th Street or Suburban Stations. Kindly check your maps app for directions and distances before you decide to walk from these stations to the museum.
- If you’re coming from South Jersey, take the PATCO Speedline, which offers service to Center City Philadelphia.
- If you’re coming from out of town, catch an Amtrak train to 30th Street Station.
