Rope Dart 101 & 102 with Bird

Caitlin Bartow (Bird) is a traveling flow arts instructor and performer based in Brooklyn, NY. She is a resident poi and rope dart teacher at the Floasis and an instructor with the Rope Dart Academy. In 2017, she was a festival instructor at Spin All the Things (Toronto), Spring Wildfire, FireDrums, Fahrenheit, Juggle MIT, Flashepoint and FlowMotion Symposium

Come learn rope dart with Bird in an intimate and focused setting, all while having fun!

Workshop Details

Rope Dart 101 - Spins (6:00-7:00PM)

This class provides students with the blueprints to moving freely with a rope dart. Students will learn the three basic types of spins – elbow spins, thigh spins and neck spins, the foundational skills for rope dart.

Rope Dart 102-Shots (7:00-8:00PM)

This class covers the second fundamental skill set for a beginner rope dartist – shots. Shots are any action that causes the dart to shoot away from the body in a straight line. Students will learn three basic types of shots – elbow shots, knee shots and foot shots – as well as tips and tricks for shot retrieval and slack control.

WHEN TO ARRIVE?

Please arrive 5 minutes before class time in order to get acquainted with the space and ready for class to begin on time. 

WHAT TO WEAR?

Wear clothes that you are comfortable moving around in. No shoes allowed in the studio, so bring socks if you don't like being bare footed!

WHAT TO BRING?

Bring a water bottle and your rope dart! Caitlin is a Rope Dart Academy instructor and will be offering a 10% discount of all RDA products to students.

PARKING & PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION?

Street parking is available, please come a bit early to ensure you can find a parking spot! The CEC is located very close to the 34th street stop on the Market Frankford Line and is also a 15 minute walk from 30th Street Transportation Center.
