Beyond Cascade: Intermediate Juggling with Tina
12:00 - 1:30
If you’ve already caught on to juggling but aren’t sure what comes next, this workshop is for you! Tennis? Half-shower? Mill’s what? Is this even juggling? That’s right, we’re going to learn all the tricks those slick jugglers are always talking about. This workshop will lay the groundwork for patterns beyond the familiar cascade. We will start by reversing the cascade, throwing each ball to the center rather than the outside corners. From there we will add columns and fountains, work on windmills, and finally attempt Mill’s Mess. You will leave this workshop with a handful of new patterns and the training to learn more.
More Balls, More Fun: Advanced Juggling with David
2:00 - 3:30
This advanced workshop will focus on the mathematics of juggling to describe how throws of many heights fit together in a form called siteswap. Using numbers to represent the pattern, we will practice standard siteswaps and review more complicated ones. After, we will learn the definition of multitasking with synchronous and asynchronous juggling. Did you know even-number patterns don’t cross? In this workshop, I will give you the tools and confidence you need to add more balls to your juggling. We will end with what makes juggling clubs different and how to pass them.
No Props, No Problem!
We'll have plenty of extra juggling balls if you don't have your own, or don't have enough =)
About the Instructors
Sustainable Circus is saving the world! The juggling duo of David Ramsay and Tina Notaro are bringing the circus to you using everyday objects and recycled materials. David has committed over ten years in the Philadelphia circus community and has spent time working for the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, the 76ers, and the Philadelphia Mummers. Tina learned to juggle three years ago and is working to bring juggling and circus arts to her own communities through partnerships with the Atlantic City Arts Foundation. Together, they are supporting the arts through Sustainable Circus, a series of programs that highlight the science of circus and how we can all do our part to save the world.
