Founder of Sydney, Austria's premier Flamewater Circus, join us in learning from Shade Flamewater as he teaches his groundbreaking fire eating techniques in a live-stream interactive group setting. Students will be safely guided on-site by Terry Fields while Shade Flamewater leads class from a large projector screen inside a 6,000 sq ft metal working space.

12:00pm to 2:00pm - Fire Eating Foundations $75*
Perfect for those looking to learn basic fire eating, the Jellyfish Extinguish, transfer tricks and expand their repertoire of vapor tricks. Theory includes knowledge of burn time, safety protocols and heat management.
3:00pm to 6:00pm - Advanced Fire Eating Tricks $100*
For more experienced performers looking to take their basic understanding of fire eating to the next level, this workshop will teach combination tricks, advanced vapor tricks, and difficult flourishes and transfers. Bonus tricks included in the class.
Must be 18+ to take these workshops; Day-of registration will only be offered if spots are still available ($85 /p and $110 /p).
No Props? No Problem!
Hollow Fire Eating Wands made by Shade Flamewater will be available for $50 a pair. Cash or Paypal is accepted. We will have more than enough there for sale and spares to use for the class.

Workshops are held indoors at a 6,000 sq. ft. metalworking shop with 15ft high ceilings, 2 skylights, and an exhaust fan with 2 air scrubbers. Metal Inc is Philly’s only major makerspace focused on metalwork and offers metalworking classes supported by the Culture Trust of Greater Philadelphia.
Open Flame in Closed Spaces Initiative
Workshops are administered by licensed open flame performing artists and supervised by professionals trained in fire safety.
Educational resources are provided by The Philadelphia Spin Coalition’s dedicated fire arts initiative, Open Flame in Closed Spaces, designed to bridge the gap between market demand and performing artists through fire education and advocacy. Pay What You Feel
We are excited to bring this digital experience to an interactive group setting for the very 1st time. Although this classroom format is new and different, we are confident that we can deliver and provide you with an amazing class!
This is why we are offering a “Pay What You Feel” experience, where students can decide how much to pay based on their financial situation and the value they see in the workshop.
How Does It Work?
- Register online for the workshop(s) you wish to take at full price.
- Take part in the interactive group workshop(s) on May 28th!
- After the workshop, a SpinCo volunteer will ask you about your experience.
- Decide if the workshop and instructors met your expectations with the option to adjust the amount previously paid.

Shade Flamewater (AU)
Fire Eating, Magic, Dragon Taming… Shade Flamewater is the founder of Flamewater Circus based in Sydney, Australia. With over 12 years of stage performances up his sleeve, Shade Flamewater knows how to make the magic happen. Specializing in the mystic arts of fire and magic, Shade and his team have dedicated themselves to creating otherworldly feats. Audiences the world over have been left spellbound by Shade’s unique blend of circus, magic and fire performance. Proficient at card, production and dove magic, Shade also is one of Australia’s greatest doublestaff performers. Terry Fields (USA)
Beginning at the age of 9 and continuing forward through the past 18 years, Terry Fields has become renowned in his martial arts training, specializing in staff and nunchuck(s). In 2010, Terry began incorporating Fire Arts into his Martial Arts methodology, professional performances, and teachings as well as expanding his skill set to contact staff, fire breathing, single and double nunchuck(s), rope dart, fire swords, double staves, isolation mini hoops, dragon staff, and the ancient art of Fei Cha. He has taught advanced fire breathing from 2010-2011 at the Wildfire Re-treat, an established event focusing on the intense and proper training of fire and flow arts located in New England. In 2010, Terry was welcomed as a performer in the Squidling Brothers Sideshow, a well known Philadelphia based alternative theater, specializing in circus sideshow acts, where he continues performing at present time. For the 2012 Burning Man event, he was the Shin (director/choreographer/performer) for the Fire Conclave, Aish Tamid, one of a select group of performance artists from around the world who create choreography in dedication to the man. In 2013 to present time, Terry became the Director of Live Fire Arts for the east coast event, PEX Summer Festival - an eclectic barrage of interactive art, music, workshops, and performances. In 2014, Terry performed in the Swarsky Crystals promotional video as well as fire breathing in a credited role in 2015 for the film Rocky VII aka Creed. Aside from performance art, Terry is a builder and operator of pyrotechnics (fireworks props), staves/dragon staves, as well as laser dragon staves, taking an intelligent approach to quality product - the creation of props by one who works with them
Terry’s passion and dedication to his diverse and well honed crafts reflect in these components: performance, instruction, fabrication of props, and inspiration toward the exponential growth of these art forms. He is never without a prop, never without creative sketches of his work, and always open to sharing his skill sets.
