Come learn one of the most challenging props from international artist Shewolf Shakti! There are three class options, all focused on double staff technique:
Intro to Double Staff Flow (3:00-4:00)
No Experience Needed
We will be covering the basics of double staff theory with an emphasis on finding your own creative flow right from the start. We will start with one and two beat reels in different combinations of timing and direction. At the same time we will explore concepts which allow the staves maximum freedom, momentum and flow.
BY THE END OF THIS CLASS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO CREATE BASIC DOUBLE STAFF SEQUENCES.
Double Staff Flair (4:30-5:30)
Some Double Staff Experience Required or Intro Class Prerequisite
This class will cover introductory double staff tech including antispins and isolations. We will examine double staff combinations finding spaces and moments in which to add emphasis. We will explore several basic moves and jazz them up, finding new ways to creatively express emotion and intention.
By the end of this class students will be able to creatively express themselves to music using double staffs.
Advanced Double Staff Ideas Cauldron (6:00-7:00)
Double Staff Experience Required
This class will cover advanced double staff concepts such as quarter time, hybrids and body integration. At the same time, we will look at transition points and think about how to link the moves in increasingly complex and creative ways.
By the end of this class students will have an expansive palette of possible directions in which to take their double staffing and a whole lot of things to practice at home!
