ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Mike has been hooping for over 5 years and in that time has fallen in love with hooping and teaching object manipulation technique. With his unique style and liquid flow he’s now taking his over 4 years of teaching experience to the flow community. His analytical teaching style informs intuitive, hard to explain concepts, through single technique-based breakdowns. With successful workshops at The Spin Summit (2014, 2015), Kinetic Fire (2014), Flow camp (2015), Mo Flow (2015), FlowMotion (2014, 2015), Hyperion (2015),Florida Flow Fest (2015), and FlowDown Fire Festival (2014, 2015). Along with popular videos online, Mike hopes to help hoopers throughout the community expand their repertoire.

Day 2 Schedule

Chest Rolls : In this class we will learn how to do a PERFECT chest roll. The focus is not on how many different kinds or variations, but how to have a perfectly controlled chest roll that has contact from finger to finger. Then, we will focus on variations. Mike has been doing chest rolls for about 2 years now, and it has been one of the most important moves in his practice. This move can truly show you that you are capable of anything, and that practice and dedication are worth it. If you have ever thought that you cannot do a chest roll with a hoop, PLEASE COME TO THIS CLASS!!!

2 Hoops, 1 Hand - 4 Hoops, 2 Arms

Multi hoop manipulation has taken the hoop community by storm. With moves such as the Ocho and Iso-flower, hoopers minds have been expanded into the realm of quad-hooping. This class will teach, at an extremely detailed level, what our hands, fingers and forearms need to be doing in order to hold more than one hoop per hand. In addition, we will be focusing on normal issues that hoopers have trouble with when doing multiple hoops, such as keeping planes, grip switching, and keeping the viewer's perspective in mind. We will also be learning a brand new grip that Mike calls the Multi-Planar Grip, or The Vulcan Grip. This allows a hooper to have multiple hoops on multiple planes at the same time. Lastly, because these moves will really burn your forearms, we will be learning a few essential stretches for off body hooping.

#3 Iso-Flower and Related Techniques

In this class we will tackle the difficult trick of the Iso-Flower and the concept of two hoops spinning two hoops in one hand. Mastering how to spin two hoops on one hand in the same time and split time will expand many hooper's multi-hoop repertoire. It is also a great tool for learning to perform the iso-flower.

Fire Hoop Techniques

This class will focus on teaching you how to use your fire hoop with confidence, allowing you to hoop like it’s not on fire! Through simple hag placement techniques, we can learn how to work around the fire wicks. We will be learning how to do tosses, escalators, chest rolls, wedgies, and super tricky ways to light your hoop up. If you’ve ever been afraid of your fire hoop, or if you wanted to use an un-lit one to practice with, this is class for you. In this class we will not be lighting up unless we have extra time, and this will only be for demonstrations. Bring your fire hoop if you have one, if you don’t there will be extra, and we will be sharing. Don’t be afraid of the fire, learn to work with it, and soon you’ll be manipulating the flame as well as your prop.
